What can you see? What is there to be seen?

We are forever trying to make sense of what we see. Sure, our eyes see everything for what it is. Along the optic nerve and into the occipital lobe it’s just colours and shapes, but then the parietal lobe takes over and wants to process this data into something ‘real’.

To do this it cross references everything it thinks of with the temporal lobe that is in charge of memory. It wants to assign meaning to the images we see.

Of course, we are blissfully unaware of all this and merely see different colours and shapes that say something different to us every day. Which is the way it should be.
